Yes, we see exotics!

In recent years, exotic pets - basically, anything that is not a dog or a cat - have become more and more popular.  Birds, ferrets, reptiles, guinea pigs, rabbits and rodents make wonderful companions, but they need attention too!  We recommend that you bring your new pet in for a thorough physical examination when you first obtain it, not only to make sure it is healthy, but also to educate you about all aspects of its care, which may be unfamiliar to you.  Actually, we strongly urge you to research your pet's requirements before bringing it home: many of these animals have very specific needs that must be met in order for them to thrive.  For this reason, you should never purchase an exotic on impulse, or fall for the marketing line that they
make "easy-care, low-maintenance" pets.

Annual checkups are very important for our patients, as is early intervention, when they start showing signs of illness.  Currently we vaccinate only ferrets; if you wish to vaccinate your bird, you may be referred to an avian specialist.   We can also see your pet for routine maintenance, such as nail and teeth trimming, wing clipping, beak trims, and such, or for more specialized services, such as spaying/neutering, labwork or microchipping.  Whether your pet is furry, scaly or feathery, it is welcome here!
